D4 is a 30/33 bedded ward which specialises in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery.

Working closely alongside other Wards within the Orthopaedic Department to look after the needs of patients admitted to these wards from across North Hampshire.

Previous experience in this area is not essential as in-house training will be provided to ensure you are fully equipped to meet the demands of this role.

w Welcome patients to the ward in a friendly, professional manner. Orientating them and their families to the ward and hospital where necessary.

w Provide accurate and timely information to patients regarding ward routines i.e. visiting times, meal times.

w Provide additional refreshments to patients and families where appropriate.

w Answer telephone.

w Support ward team by underlying tasks to enhance patient care i.e. collection of laundry, pharmacy, etc.

w Ensuring the bed space is prepared for the arrival of a new admission to the ward i.e. checking the area is clean, rubbish removed etc.

w Alert nurse in charge to aspects of dissatisfaction from patients i.e. complaints.

w Provide assistance to patients using the telephone.

w Support completion of Friends and Family cards on discharge.

w Check drug fridge temperature daily and record.

w Assist nursing staff with patients who require 1-1 supervision.

w Undertake patient moving and handling training to be able to assist nursing staff in an emergency situation.
