Work with York Limited are working with a local authority client to recruit an ESOL Tutor to work in York City Centre venues.


This role is part time, with the potential to work up to 16 hours a week up to four days, agreed in discussion with curriculum manager in advance. The assignment is expected to start from the beginning of September 2025 to the end of June/beginning of July 2026.


The pay is from £16.92 to £26.82 per hour.


Key duties include:
Planning lessons that meet the needs of ESOL learners, who are already living and working in the area,. As well as this, an ability to integrate and support a growing number of refugees with very complex life experiences and language needs.
Delivering engaging and relevant courses to a diverse range of learners, for both accredited and non-accredited provision from Pre Entry up to Level Two ESOL Skills for Life, in multiple city centre venues
Measuring learner progress, through both formative and summative assessments, both internally and externally set.
Qualification and Skills required for the post;
A recognised teaching qualification, preferably a CELTA or CertTESOL or equivalent, as well as a degree in a related field
Maths GCSE or equivalent at a Grade C/ Grade 4 or above
Strong interpersonal qualities are essential, as well as excellent recording and administration skills, to meet specific funding, exam board, and programme requirements.
Experience of community education is preferred, as well as an understanding of the challenges and barriers to learners who are new to literacy and educational settings.
