An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Licensing Department for an enthusiastic, organised and motivated Licensing Enforcement Officer. The successful applicant will demonstrate a real commitment to providing excellent customer care, public safeguarding and an overall top quality service.

You will be a member of a busy team and will be responsible for the enforcement of a variety of licensing regimes including the sale of alcohol, regulated entertainment, gambling and hackney carriage and private hire vehicles, drivers and operators.

Applicants should ideally have an ability to apply legal knowledge to resolve problems and willingness to lead and undertake inspections, investigations and operations and to attend court and committee proceedings. You should have previous experience of carrying out investigations and a knowledge of PACE and RIPA. You will be expected to be proficient in the preparation of prosecution files and reports.

You will have the ability to establish good working relationships with all stakeholders, partner agencies and the relevant trade. You will be required to represent the Council at various meetings related to licensing.

You must respond well to working in a pressurised environment, working to strict deadlines. You should also be experienced in dealing with confrontational situations. You will be required to advise on licensing matters, and you will therefore be expected to have a wide and comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of licensing legislation and a willingness to keep up to date with legislative and policy changes.

You will be a confident IT user with excellent written and oral communication skills, and proven experience within an enforcement or regulatory organization.

This role will require you to work regular unsociable hours as part of your normal working week for which there is a 10% enhanced payment.

If you are as passionate about delivering results as we are, and if you want a job where you can be part of a team that’s making a real difference, we’d like to hear from you.
