The Growth Company’s Greater Manchester Business Growth Hub is looking for a dedicated and dynamic Skills Coach to support workforce development across the region. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying training and development needs within local businesses, building strong relationships with training providers, and supporting employees and volunteers in enhancing their skills. The focus will be on delivering essential and vocational training that drives productivity, improves job satisfaction, and raises overall skill levels throughout Greater Manchester.

This role requires travel across Greater Manchester, therefore having a driving licence/access to a vehicle would be an advantage.

Since 2011, GM Business Growth Hub has supported over 15,000 businesses, providing finance guidance, international links, and fostering innovation and people development. We offer expert business support, events, specialist programs, and funding.

Key Responsibilities:

Gain a deep understanding of each organisation’s growth ambitions and skills requirements.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to support effective skills reviews.
Identify workforce training needs and provide tailored, actionable recommendations.
Help clients make the most of available training opportunities to support their development goals.
Accurately maintain records and client interactions using CRM and other data systems.
Complete all administrative tasks promptly and with a high level of accuracy.
Represent the organisation at networking events to raise awareness and promote services.
Keep up to date with national and local skills strategies, policies, and funding opportunities.
Experience:

Degree-level education or substantial experience in training, business support, or employer engagement.
Demonstrated success working in a target-driven environment with measurable outcomes.
Strong skills in negotiation, presentation, and account management, with a track record of building effective partnerships.
Solid understanding of the skills landscape, including relevant funding streams and policy frameworks.
Proficient in digital tools and systems, particularly CRM databases and related technologies.
Awareness of the challenges surrounding English, maths, ESOL, and digital skills, and their impact on workforce development.
About You:

Strong understanding of work-based learning pathways, including apprenticeship standards and frameworks.
Familiarity with the business support landscape across Greater Manchester and available services.
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to address complex challenges.
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
Proactive, innovative, and driven to identify and seize new opportunities for impact.
