Job Description
An Active Stirling Early Years Coach plans and delivers developmentally appropriate activities, promoting an active lifestyle by creating a fun and engaging environment for children aged 6 months old – 5 years old. This role includes helping children develop fundamental movement skills, confidence, and a love for being active.Please note, this role is fixed term until 31st March 2026.
Requirements
· To deliver a quality Early Years programme for all abilities and to support wider facility operations as required. To plan Early Years classes, so that individual needs can be met, by providing high quality coaching experiences to children aged 6 months to 5 years.· Experience working with young children in a coaching or early years education setting. · A relevant coaching qualification (e.g UKCC Level 1 or 2) OR an early year’s qualification (e.g SVQ, HNC, Degree).
· Ability to plan, deliver, and adapt fun and age-appropriate physical activity sessions.
· Strong communication skills to engage confidently with children, parents and carers.
· Enthusiastic, friendly, approachable and able to motivate and inspire young children through play.
· Great organisational skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
· Have a basic understanding of child development and safeguarding practices.
· Flexible and willing to travel to different venues within Stirling as required.
· Membership of the PVG Scheme.
· First Aid and Child Protection certificates.
Responsibilities
· Plan and deliver high-quality early years physical activity sessions that promote physical literacy and fundamental movement skills (balance, coordination, agility).· Ensure all activities are safe, inclusive and adapted to suit the individual needs and abilities of each child.
· Support children’s social, emotional and cognitive development through structured and free play.
· Set up, pack away and maintain equipment to a high standard.
· Build positive rapport with children and parents to create a supportive atmosphere.
· Attend training development days and team meetings to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills.
· Be a positive role model, promoting the benefits of an active lifestyle to families and the wider community.
· Keep accurate registers and contribute to basic monitoring and reporting when required.
· Always follow Active Stirling’s child protection, health and safety, and equality policies.
