The Opportunity
Are you a recent Science graduate looking to gain classroom experience before starting a career in teaching? We are working in partnership with an outstanding secondary school in Shoreham-by-Sea, seeking a motivated Graduate Science Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.
This is a full-time, term-time only role, perfect for aspiring teachers looking to train from September 2026. As a Graduate Science Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4 in Science lessons, gaining hands-on experience while working alongside talented and supportive teaching staff.
Key Responsibilities
As a Graduate Science Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Support Science teachers in delivering engaging lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
• Provide one-to-one and small group academic support, helping pupils progress in their learning
• Assist in preparing practical experiments and maintaining lab equipment
• Help manage classroom behaviour and organisation
• Encourage pupil engagement and enthusiasm for Science
• Take part in extracurricular Science/STEM activities and school events
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for enthusiastic graduates who meet the following criteria:
• Minimum 2:1 degree in a Science-related subject (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Natural Sciences, Engineering)
• Passion for Science and a desire to inspire young learners
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive and positive approach to supporting education
• Genuine interest in pursuing a career in teaching
• Previous experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, coaching) is desirable but not essential
