Graduate Teaching Assistant: Key Responsibilities
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging, inclusive lessons
• Offering in-class support to students, especially those with additional needs or who are working above/below expected levels
• Identifying students who are excelling or falling behind and helping to shape their learning pathways
• Delivering targeted 1:1 and small group intervention sessions to close learning gaps and accelerate progress
• Helping to prepare teaching materials and classroom resources
• Encouraging students’ confidence and independence both academically and socially
Graduate Teaching Assistant: What We’re Looking For
To succeed as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you should have:
• Hold (or be predicted) a 1st or 2:1 in a relevant subject from a Russell Group or top-30 UK university
• Strong academic background throughout GCSE’S and A-Levels (Must have English, Maths and Science GCSE’S)
• Be considering a long-term career in education, ideally leading to teacher training
• A genuine interest in the learning journey of students
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Show initiative, adaptability, and resilience in a fast-paced school environment
• Bring warmth, empathy, and a proactive attitude to support both staff and pupils
