Autism Support Assistant - Primary School - Trafford
Location: Trafford, Greater Manchester
Pay: £103 per day
Contract: Full-time, Term-time only
Start Date: September 2025
Are you a compassionate, patient, and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting children with autism?
We are seeking an experienced Autism Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Trafford, rated 'Good' by Ofsted. This full-time role is ideal for someone with a background in Special Educational Needs (SEN) who is eager to make a lasting difference in the lives of young learners.
In this role, you will work closely with a pupil with autism, providing one-to-one support within a mainstream classroom setting. You'll be expected to implement and adapt personalised learning strategies and sensory-based interventions, while working collaboratively with the SENCo and class teacher. A key part of the role involves supporting the child's social and emotional development, fostering a nurturing and structured environment that enables them to thrive. You'll also monitor progress and provide feedback to both the teaching team and parents or carers.
To be successful, you'll need experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ideally within a school environment. An understanding of communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or visual supports will be highly beneficial, along with strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills. A calm, empathetic and flexible approach is essential, as is a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking team at a supportive, well-led school with a strong reputation for inclusive education and positive outcomes for pupils. Whether you are an experienced SEN support worker, a psychology graduate, or someone with transferable experience, we would love to hear from you.
Apply now via Senploy to take the next step in your education support career.
This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS (child and adult workforce), satisfactory references, and full compliance with KCSIE (2024) guidance and safer recruitment standards. Overseas police checks may be required where applicable. Educato Limited is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Educato Limited acts as an employment business in relation to this vacancy.
