Fife Council are recruiting this paid placement for NHS Fife. Part Time to work 18 hours at Victoria Hospital, Hayfield Road, Kirkcaldy, KY2 5AH. This is a 13-weeks paid work placement funded by Fife Council via the Life Chances Programme. The aim of this programme is to gain a sustainable job at the end of the funded period or earlier.

The post holder is responsible for the reception clinical specimens utilising both manual methods Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). There is a requirement to be familiar with a variety of biomedical laboratory tests and to have a working knowledge of medical terminology.
The main purpose of the post is to:
· Provides assistance to Associate Practitioners, Biomedical Scientists and Medical staff.
· Enter patient data into the relevant laboratory system.
· Stock control including maintenance of records.
· Maintenance of processors and other automated equipment.
· Provides efficient filing system e.g. Blocks and Slides etc.
· Deals with specimen disposal.
