Job Title: Mechanical Fitters x 10 (WPD Substations)
Location: Midlands Framework
Contract Type: Contract - CIS
Contract Length: 6 months rolling contract

Our client is looking for 10 skilled Mechanical Fitters with experience working on HV Substations and current Western Power Distribution access ticket (OPS1), to join their team on a long-term contract basis covering a full framework of projects in the Midlands area.

**MUST HAVE WESTERN POWER (WPD/NGED) OPS1 TICKET TO GET ON SITE - ESSENTIAL**

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, connect, and test control and power wiring in substations
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Assist with the installation of transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and associated equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance and fault-finding on substation electrical systems
  • Ensure all work is compliant with safety regulations and company standards
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and site supervisors to ensure timely project delivery
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and test results

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Recognized mechanical trade qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in substation or heavy industrial mechanical fitting
  • Strong understanding of substation layout, equipment, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and technical documentation
  • Valid driver's license and flexibility to travel to various site locations
  • Strong awareness of workplace health and safety procedures
