Crynodeb
• The post holder will be a member of the Bexley ALD Epilepsy Service, working under the consultant and epilepsy specialist nurse.
• They will provide specific skilled support to aid the epilepsy team in the assessment and management of adults with a learning disability and epilepsy.
• They will also help support with epilepsy training to service providers and carers across the Bexley Borough.
• The post holder will be expected to facilitate group work with clients and carers.
• They will share a caseload with the epilepsy specialist nurse and will be expected to work unsupervised at times.
• Under the guidance and supervision of the consultant and epilepsy specialist nurse, the post holder will be expected to hold a small caseload of clients with epilepsy and possible other complex health needs, taking responsibility for implementing and reinforcing interventions.
• To report back client progress or problems to the qualified clinicians.
• To work with clients individually or in a group, in a variety of settings.
• To engage and participate in the assessment of clients in the community including:
-Information gathering through liaison with clients, carers and the MDT.
-Monitoring and reviewing an individual’s epilepsy.
-Contributing to clinical and non-clinical reviews, this may include obtaining vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, heart rate, respiration rate).
-Offering guidance and advice in relation to seizure and risk management.
Liaise with primary and secondary care services such as GP practices and local Neurology services to support with care delivery.

• Attend multi-disciplinary meetings to support an individual’s epilepsy care and management.
• To attend local team meetings including attending referrals meetings as and when required.
• To support the epilepsy specialist nurse in the delivery of epilepsy awareness training and emergency medication administration training to service providers, carers and staff.
• Be computer literate and to be able to use the trusts record keeping system and use documents such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams etc.
• To provide specialist support to clients with epilepsy related appointments when necessary.
• Have a good understanding and awareness of the rights of clients and carers and assisting them in exercising those rights where appropriate.
• To attend epilepsy clinics with the team consultant and epilepsy nurse for review of caseload.
