Distribution Centre Manager – QD Commercial Group
A great opportunity has become available to run our Distribution Centre!
About Us:
QD Commercial Group is a successful, family-run retail group with a strong presence across the UK. We operate three well-known retail brands:
QD Stores – delivering quality, value-driven general merchandise, and home essentials.
Cherry Lane Garden Centres – the UK's leading value garden centre group.
Lathams of Potter Heigham – a much-loved Norfolk destination store offering unique value and variety to locals and holidaymakers alike.
Across our growing store network and online platforms, we provide exceptional value in everything from homewares and gardening to pet care, gifts, seasonal ranges, and more.
To support this growth, we are seeking a dynamic Distribution Centre Manager to oversee our central logistics hub and lead a vital part of our supply chain.
The Role:
Reporting directly to the Group Operations Director, you will take full responsibility for the smooth, efficient, and cost-effective running of our 250,000 sq. ft. distribution centre in Snetterton, Norfolk.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll manage a motivated team and oversee the daily flow of goods—ensuring that our 51 stores and growing e-commerce channels are stocked and ready to meet customer demand.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and inspire the warehouse and logistics team across inbound, outbound, inventory, and fulfilment.
Oversee distribution for a diverse product range, including home goods, horticultural products, and seasonal lines.
Ensure compliance with health & safety standards, legal obligations, and company procedures.
Drive efficiency, accuracy, and cost control through process improvements.
Work closely with the HR and Recruitment team to build and retain a capable, motivated team, especially during peak seasons.
Collaborate closely with retail, buying, and e-commerce teams to forecast and align stock needs.
Monitor and manage KPIs and reporting systems.
Support operational scalability for peak trading periods (e.g., gardening season, Christmas)
Who You Are:
Proven experience in managing a warehouse or distribution centre (retail/FMCG/horticulture experience a plus)
Capable leader with experience managing, developing, and motivating teams.
Strong understanding of supply chain systems, warehouse technology, and stock control
Practical, problem-solving mindset with a hands-on approach
Excellent communication and coordination skills across departments
Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, seasonal, and customer-focused environment
Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with colleagues at all levels and build strong, collaborative relationships with our supply base.
