We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Enfield to assist with the appointment of a Cook on a 1- Month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £13.9- £17.1 per hour
Summary:
The Cook will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, balanced meals in line with food safety standards across council-run facilities such as schools, care homes, or community centres. Working as part of the catering team, the post holder will ensure that meals are prepared efficiently, hygienically, and to a high standard, catering to various dietary needs while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
Responsibilities:
Prepare, cook, and serve meals according to daily menus and dietary requirements (including allergies, religious needs, and special diets).
Ensure food is cooked and presented in accordance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering supplies, and ensure proper storage and rotation of ingredients.
Supervise and support kitchen assistants or junior catering staff as needed.
Engage positively with service users, promoting a friendly and inclusive mealtime experience.
Experience:
Previous experience working as a cook in a similar environment (e.g. school, care home, commercial kitchen).
Experience preparing meals for large groups with diverse dietary needs.
Experience working in a public sector or council-run setting.
Experience supervising or leading a small team.
Qualifications:
Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate.
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery or Catering.
First Aid and/or Health and Safety training.
