What skills and experience we're looking for
At least five GCSEs or equivalent which must include at least a Grade C / Grade 4 in Maths and English.
Previous administrative experience demonstrating strong organisational skills.
Working knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and wellbeing issues in relation to young people
Experience of working in an office environment
A good understanding of the importance of attendance for children’s education
A drive to be part of a movement that will change the educational outcomes of students in an area of high socio-economic disadvantage
Ability to demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills, including attention to detail
Ability to prioritise and problem solve to ensure that deadlines are met, whilst working under pressure
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to organise and prioritise workload and work on own initiative
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion
Ability to show compassion and sensitivity to colleagues, students and visitors when dealing with incidents
Have a willingness to extend skills through appropriate training
Committed to the safeguarding of children

The Opportunity:
We are currently recruiting for an Attendance Officer at John Madejski Academy (soon to be Hartland High School). This is a fantastic opportunity to join a school that is on a rapid trajectory of improvement that will be sustained over many years, it is a chance to be part of something very special.
Attendance Officers play a critical role in the safeguarding of our students, by ensuring all attendance procedures are followed at all times, and in using data to drive up attendance in the school.
