What skills and experience we're looking for

St. Aelred's Catholic Primary School is seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to join our supportive and thriving school community. This 0.4 maternity cover position will involve a job share alongside our current Year 4 teacher.

We are a close-knit, family-oriented school with a strong sense of community, where our wonderful children exhibit excellent behaviour and a genuine curiosity to learn. At St. Aelred’s, we offer a rich variety of enrichment activities and experiences that inspire both our children and staff.

As a Catholic school, we value diversity and welcome applicants from all backgrounds, provided they can support our unique Catholic ethos. The successful candidate will become part of a caring, friendly, and collaborative team of staff who are dedicated to nurturing the whole child, academically, socially, and spiritually.

What we’re looking for:

• A motivated and enthusiastic teacher who is committed to the academic and personal development of all children.
• A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
• A teacher who embraces the values of Catholic education and can contribute positively to the school’s ethos.
• A strong track record of providing engaging, challenging, and effective teaching that inspires pupils to achieve their best.

What the school offers its staff

St Aelred’s Catholic Primary School is part of the Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust, a family of 38 schools, and a vibrant Sixth Form College. With more than 12,300 students and 1,500 staff, NPCAT is now one of the largest multi-academy trusts in the UK.

What we offer:

• A vibrant and supportive school environment where staff are valued and encouraged to grow.
• A strong partnership with parents and the local community.
• A wealth of opportunities for professional development.
• A welcoming and caring atmosphere where everyone is part of our school family.

Commitment to safeguarding

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We require the successful applicant to undertake an enhanced Criminal Record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
