Qualifications
• A degree qualification or equivalent with the ability to offer specialist support in English or Maths
• A good level of English and Maths – GCSE grade C or above
• Recent relevant Professional Development & willingness to develop own expertise
Experience/Knowledge
• Successful experience of working with children; ideally within an educational setting.
• Understanding of and commitment to develop the ethos of Nower Hill High School.
• Have an understanding of the importance of lesson planning and how learning objectives contribute to learning.
• Ability to organise and deliver classroom activities.

Further details about the role
The successful candidate will support students both in the mainstream classroom and also in a 1:1 capacity. The successful candidate will also be expected to lead small group sessions within the core subject areas of Maths and English. An interest in working with students with a wide range of special educational needs including emotional, social and mental health needs is essential, together with an interest in supporting second language learners. A caring, flexible and common sense approach is important.
This post is ideal for recent graduates who may be considering embarking on a career in teaching, health or social care, as you will have the opportunity to work with young people with a range of needs and benefit from the considerable experience of our Inclusion Faculty colleagues. Excellent CPD opportunities are available in our highly regarded Inclusion Faculty and many of our Interns move on to successful teaching careers or other professional careers working with children and young people.
