Your role:
We are seeking a Lead Analyst to join the GMCA Research Team, supporting the work of our Greater Manchester Complex Safeguarding Hub.
The GMCA Research Team produce high quality research and intelligence to inform the evidence base that underpins policy and strategy for the city region. As the Lead Analyst for Complex Safeguarding, you will provide the Complex Safeguarding Hub with research and intelligence products and support senior leaders to develop and implement evidence-informed policy and practice. You will also be involved in the broader portfolio of the Complex Safeguarding Hub, for instance through facilitating workshops and events and supporting best practice initiatives.
The post-holder will be embedded within the Complex Safeguarding Hub, working closely with the Head of Complex Safeguarding, as well as with internal and external partners across Greater Manchester. As Lead Analyst for the Complex Safeguarding Hub, your work will be varied. Key responsibilities will include working with a range of both quantitative and qualitative data, managing multiple research projects, presenting and communicating research findings to senior leaders across Greater Manchester and supporting both internal and external stakeholders with data and intelligence needs, including local capacity building.

Applicants need to be flexible to changing circumstances the work of the Complex Safeguarding Hub changes daily, and candidates should be willing and confident in turning their hands to a wide variety of tasks to support the delivery of strategic priorities.
As part of the GMCA Research Team, you will join a vibrant team of other Analysts, Lead Analysts and Principal Researchers, with opportunities to collaborate on cross-team initiatives.
Please note, the Lead Analyst Role Profile is structured against a progression framework that allows Lead Analysts to progress from Grades 6 to 8. Our expectation is to recruit at Grade 7 or 8 (£37,938.10 - £46,731.33), reflecting the level of skill, knowledge and experience required for this role.
About you:
We are looking for someone who can show us they have:
- strong interpersonal skills to work with various stakeholders, internally and externally
- experience of undertaking research and analysis, including delivering research projects,
- confidence in sourcing, analysing and presenting complex information to specialist and non-specialist audiences
- strong analytical capabilities, with evidence of working with complex quantitative data sets, including data visualisation skills (potentially including experience using dashboards, and coding).
- or may have knowledge of, or experience with qualitative data (including but not limited to focus groups, interviews, community engagement)
- excellent writing and presentation abilities (to present technical material to non-technical audiences)
- an understanding of how data and evidence can be used to inform policy and delivery, and how to maximise insight and intelligence from your research
- an awareness of the political landscape of Greater Manchester both locally and nationally.
- an eagerness to learn new techniques and approaches you are self-motivated and able to use your own initiative to take work forward
