We’re looking for a Control and On-Day Planner to join our industry-leading operations team and ensure our drivers are managed effectively, our service is delivered on time, and our customers stay happy.

About the Role

As a Control and On-Day Planner, you’ll play a key role in planning, re-planning, and managing daily workloads for a team of drivers, ensuring our service is always efficient, cost-effective, and customer-focused. This is a hybrid role which includes working from home and occasionally working at our Tipton depot.

You’ll be expected to:

Re-plan and rebook same-day work in real-time to meet OTIF targets
Keep all planning tools (DMN, driver calendar, planning sheet) fully updated
Communicate clearly with drivers, provide support, and ensure every route has a home plan
Maximise driver productivity and ensure daily KPIs are met or exceeded
Monitor cost efficiency (travel, fuel, job value) and proactively manage workload via bidding platforms
Progress-chase AM/PM jobs to keep operations running smoothly
Liaise with customer service and assist with complaint resolution
Ensure compliance with HSE standards and company policies
Support team initiatives and provide Out of Hours cover as required

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who is confident, proactive, and highly organised, with:

Excellent UK geographic knowledge
Proven experience planning drivers/trucks within the UK
Strong IT skills, including real-time data entry and communication platforms
The ability to stay calm under pressure and adapt quickly to new challenges
A customer-first mindset with a focus on detail, accuracy, and service delivery

Essential Skills

Exceptional verbal and written communication
Strong multi-tasking and prioritisation abilities
Decision-making confidence, balancing cost, driver morale, and service KPIs
High level of professionalism and teamwork

Success in This Role Means:

All drivers have next-day plans by 3pm
Travel and platform costs are within budget and justified
Minimum 1.9 driver productivity rate across the team
High customer satisfaction and rapid issue resolution

Ready to take control of your logistics career?

Apply today and become an essential part of a high-performing, forward-thinking operations team where no two days are the same – but everyday is rewarding.
