Quokka Education is proud to be supporting a unique and nurturing specialist school based in Basingstoke.
They are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to join their team from September 2025. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a setting that places staff and student wellbeing at the heart of everything they do.
This specialist school supports learners with SEND and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, offering an inclusive, trauma-informed approach to teaching and learning. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping learners achieve meaningful outcomes in English while supporting their emotional and personal development.
Contract Details:
- Location: Basingstoke
- Position: English Teacher (SEND/SEMH)
- Start Date: September 2025
- Contract Type: Ongoing (long-term)
- Full/Part Time: Full-time preferred; part-time/job share considered
- Hours: 8:30 am to 3:15 pm, term time only 9 (37.5 per week)
About the Role:
- Deliver engaging English lessons adapted to a wide range of learner needs
- Teach in line with existing schemes of work, using adaptive and inclusive strategies
- Work closely with the English Lead and wider pastoral/support staff
- Track and report on learner progress, both academic and social-emotional
- Build positive relationships using trauma-informed approaches ( PACE, The Inclusion Way)
- Support EHCP targets, reading initiatives, and cultural capital development
- Create a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment where learners can thrive

- Experience or interest in working with SEND/SEMH learners
- Adaptable, patient, and nurturing teaching style
