A personal assistant is required to support a friendly and independent man in his mid-30s who has a visual impairment and uses a wheelchair. This is a social and practical support role, ideal for someone who enjoys good conversation, has a positive attitude, and is comfortable getting out and about.
The role involves assisting with paperwork and day-to-day planning (such as budgeting and organising appointments), as well as accompanying on social outings — including trips to the gym, visits into town, meals out, and other social activities. Occasional support on holidays (fully funded and paid) may also be part of the role.
Details:
• Hours: 10 hours per week, with potential to increase
• Pay: £14.25 per hour
• Location: Edinburgh
• Flexibility: Working hours are flexible and agreed upon with the employer
Who we’re looking for:
No prior experience is required — just:
• A good sense of humour
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• A good level of spoken and written English
• Willingness to join (or already be a member of) the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme
This role may suit a student, someone looking for meaningful part-time work, or anyone interested in providing social and practical support to a friendly, easy-going person.
Main duties include:
• Supporting with admin and correspondence
• Helping with personal planning and budgeting tasks
• Accompanying on outings (gym, shopping, meals out, shows)
• Occasional support for travel or holidays
