Empower Every Achievement | Support Every Step
Please note: Current Moving & Handling Training is essential for this role

Are you a compassionate, committed support professional with experience working with learners with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) or severe learning disabilities (SLD)? Are you ready to make a genuine impact in a specialist setting where no two days are the same?

We’re proud to be working with a warm, welcoming Special School in Sheffield that provides exceptional education and care for secondary and post-16 students with complex needs. The school is seeking a skilled SEND Teaching Assistant to join their outstanding team.

About the School:

This specialist provision is dedicated to students with PMLD and SLD, offering a holistic, highly personalised approach to learning. Staff work collaboratively across disciplines, creating a nurturing environment where every student is supported to achieve independence, confidence, and joy in their learning journey.

The Role:

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Deliver tailored support to students with complex physical, cognitive, and sensory needs

  • Support the delivery of individualised, multi-sensory learning programmes

  • Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals

  • Assist with personal care, communication support, feeding, and mobility

  • Promote social interaction, life skills, and emotional well-being

  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive classroom that promotes dignity and respect

  • Build meaningful, trusting relationships with students and their families

    About You:

We’re looking for someone who is truly passionate about supporting learners with high needs. The ideal candidate will have:

✅ Experience supporting students with PMLD or SLD, ideally in a special school or SEND provision
✅ A confident, calm, and compassionate approach
✅ The ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of professionals and families
✅ A proactive mindset and a commitment to inclusive practice
✅ Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
✅ In-date Moving and Handling training – this is essential for this role

    What You’ll Gain:
    • The opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of exceptional young people

    • Supportive school leadership and a dedicated, inclusive team

    • Ongoing CPD and access to specialist training

    • A role where no two days are the same – and every achievement matters
