Children’s Support Worker (Night Shifts) – Flexible Work – Milton Keynes
Pay Rate: £13.00 per hour
Location: Milton Keynes
Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in an EBD (Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties) children’s residential setting
Job Type: Flexible, Temporary, or Ongoing Night Shifts
About the Role:
We at Social Care & Education are currently recruiting experienced Children’s Support Workers to work flexible night shifts within residential children’s homes in Milton Keynes. These homes support children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), offering them a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment to grow and develop.
As a Night Support Worker, you will be responsible for overseeing the welfare and safety of the young people throughout the night. This includes carrying out routine checks, responding to any incidents or concerns, providing emotional reassurance, and ensuring that care plans are followed. You will play an essential role in helping young people feel safe, listened to, and valued during difficult hours.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide overnight care, supervision, and emotional support to children and young people aged 8 to 18
• Conduct regular welfare checks and maintain accurate records throughout your shift
• Offer a calm, professional response to any incidents or behavioural challenges during the night
• Work in line with safeguarding procedures and care plans
• Maintain a clean, safe, and homely environment
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and management to ensure consistent, high-quality care
Requirements:
• A minimum of 1 year’s experience working within an EBD children’s residential setting is essential
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and professional boundaries
• The ability to remain calm, compassionate, and resilient in challenging situations
• An Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
• Flexibility to work night shifts, including weekends where required
