About Us: Alvaros Restaurant is an established restaurant in the Westcliff-on-Sea area. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chef, to be on our bank list to cover sickness, holiday and busy periods, bringing expertise, continuity and creativity to their kitchen. We specialise in Portuguese dishes, with intercontinental dishes and fast food also on the menu. We also serve Full English Breakfasts.
Experience and knowledge in these cuisines is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Covering absences in the kitchen team ensuring high-quality dishes are prepared and presented consistently.
Oversee the service when on shift, from preparation to delivery, maintaining efficiency and excellence.
Health, Safety & Hygiene:
Uphold strict hygiene and cleanliness standards in the kitchen, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Implement and maintain food safety protocols, including proper storage, handling, and preparation of food items.
Conduct regular checks to ensure compliance with sanitation standards.
Allergy Management:
Develop and implement procedures to manage and communicate potential allergens in menu items.
Food Hygiene Inspections:
Prepare for and facilitate food hygiene inspections, ensuring the kitchen meets all required standards.
Address any issues identified during inspections promptly and effectively.
Buffet Service Management (Weekends):
Execute buffet-style breakfast services on weekends, ensuring a variety of options are available and presented appealingly.
Monitor buffet replenishment and maintain food quality throughout service hours.
Team Management & Coordination:
Lead and motivate the kitchen team, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment.
Kitchen Equipment & Innovation:
Identify and recommend kitchen equipment that enhances efficiency and food quality.
Qualifications & Experience:
Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar role.
Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and allergy management.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work early mornings, evenings and weekends as required.
Flexibility as a bank chef, you may be asked to work on short notice, particularly if covering sickness.
