As a successful MOT Enforcement Delivery Casework Specialist, you will be a warrant card holder and investigate MOT test fraud where it is reported or detected. You will lead high-level and complex investigations alongside front line delivery teams to tackle the serious/serially non-compliant MOT centres. You may also be required to be the decision officer where immediate cessation action is required against testers or MOT centres under DVSA’s compliance regime.
As an MOT Enforcement Specialist, you will hold a warrant card and investigate MOT test fraud. You will lead complex investigations to address major non-compliance issues at MOT centres and make decisions when immediate action against testers or centres is needed.
You will collaborate with MOT examiners and provide support where required in gathering evidence to build the case to be presented at Magistrates / Crown Court or the Procurators Fiscal.
You will specialise in conducting investigations primarily within the MOT workstream and may be required to attend MOT garages or other relevant premises as part of the role.
Where wider issues are identified, you may need to liaise with Policy to resolve, or to arrange for communications to be issued across DVSA’s MOT Enforcement teams.
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
- You may be required to act as the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) for serious/serially non-compliance MOT cases acting as a focal point for the collection and evaluation of evidence.
- You will lead the planning, preparing, and managing of serious/ serially non-compliant investigations to ensure all reasonable lines of enquiry are followed.
- You will ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, during initial activity through to the case management (for example road traffic legislation as well as the data protection regs, investigation regulations such as CPIA, PACE or Common Law in Scotland.
- Responsible for identifying and applying different approaches and methodologies to support investigations.
- Provide the department manager with regular updates and progress reports for cases they are managing or are involved with.
- You will liaise with other government departments and Police Forces where their involvement in the work would be beneficial to the end outcome of protecting citizens.
