What skills and experience we're looking for
• Be an inspirational teacher passionate about raising school standards and achievement for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities in English and Literacy.
• Have a track record of making a difference to pupil progress and outcomes in English, Literacy and beyond.
• Be an outstanding classroom practitioner.
• Have knowledge of the National Curriculum and how to adapt schemes of work to meet the range of needs of SEND learners.
• Able to deliver a range of qualifications, including GCSE English Language and Literature.
• Have a commitment to extra-curricular activity.
• Be keen to lead our phonics programme (currently in partnership with other staff).
• Be able to lead Woodlane's Dyslexia Friendly approach to raise the literacy standards of our pupils.
• Be a lead in the use of SLCN strategies to support teaching and learning.
• Be keen to share best practice with others through INSET/Outreach.
• Be someone who is highly organised and resilient.
• Be someone who puts safeguarding and child protection at the centre The position will include:
• The leadership and teaching of English and Literacy at KS3 and KS4 level.
• The leadership and management of Literacy (including phonics) on a whole school level.
• Supporting staff/pupils/parents to raise achievement in English and Literacy.
• Teaching and preparing pupils for various relevant qualifications in English.
• Providing INSET to staff.
• The delivery of extra-curricular activity.
• Devising EHCPs and hosting Annual Review meetings (not currently required).

All post-holders will be required to hold an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS). We will also require verified references, photographic identification and any necessary overseas eligibility to work in the UK. As part of our shortlisting processes we will carry out an online search for each shortlisted candidate. References will be sought prior to interview. We reserve the right to close the vacancy early should we receive applications from outstanding candidates.
