National Sales Director

We're thrilled to have an exciting opportunity for a National Sales Director to join the Senior Leadership Team. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for shaping and executing sales strategies that drive EBIT growth and support the delivery and achievement of our wider business objectives. You will oversee and guide our sales teams, cultivate strong relationships with customers and evaluate existing and future market trends. You will be accountable for C & L’s overall sales performance and contribute to the business in a strategic direction.

Location flexible as nationwide travel will be expected. Management meetings are usually held in our Depot in Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.

Key Responsibilities


Strategic planning: developing and executing comprehensive sales strategies aligned with overall business objectives
Team Leadership: Motivating, mentoring, and managing a sales team to achieve targets and foster a high-performance culture.
Sales Performance Management: Setting sales targets, monitoring performance, and analysing sales data to identify areas for improvement.
Market Analysis: Conducting market research, understanding customer needs, and analysing competitor activity to identify opportunities.
Customer Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
Financial Oversight: Managing sales budgets, forecasting revenue, and ensuring profitability.
Communication: Ensuring effective communication of sales strategies, priorities, and performance within the organisation.


Skills & Qualifications


Leadership: Ability to inspire and motivate a sales team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Strategic Thinking: Capacity to develop and implement effective sales strategies aligned with business goals.
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activity to inform decision-making.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
Relationship Building: Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and partners.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve sales-related challenges and obstacles.


Qualifications:


10+ years of relevant sales experience in the construction or building materials industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Or, a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (MBA preferred).
Strong understanding of the UK construction market, procurement processes, and project lifecycles.
