Head of Specialist Sectors

As the Head of Specialist Sectors, you will lead the strategic development and operational delivery of C & L’s Key Accounts and Residential sector teams within the construction industry. You will be responsible for driving growth, enhancing customer relationships, and ensuring alignment with business objectives. This role requires a strong commercial mindset, deep industry knowledge, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional results.

This is a national role as nationwide travel would be required. Management meetings are usually held in our Depot in Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.

Key Responsibilities


Develop and implement strategic plans for the Key Accounts and Residential sectors.
Lead and manage a team of Account Managers and Sector Specialists to achieve sales and service targets.
Build and maintain strong relationships with major clients, developers, and stakeholders.
Identify new business opportunities and oversee the tendering and bidding process for large-scale projects.
Collaborate with internal departments, including Sales, Operations, and Marketing to ensure seamless service delivery.
Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions.
Ensure accurate forecasting, budgeting, and reporting for the specialist sectors.
Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings.


Skills & Qualifications


Leadership: Proven ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute sector-specific strategies.
Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial management and business planning.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Relationship Management: Ability to build and sustain long-term client relationships.
Analytical Skills: Competence in interpreting data and market intelligence to drive decisions.
Problem-Solving: Aptitude for resolving complex challenges and implementing effective solutions.


Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in business, Construction Management, or a related field (MBA preferred). Or 10+ years of experience in the construction industry, with a focus on Key Accounts or Residential Sectors.
Proven track record in senior leadership roles with responsibility for business development and client management.
