Your new company
We're working exclusively with one of the UK's fastest-growing online retail platforms, a tech-led business that has already made a significant mark in the e-commerce space. With a proven business model and a growing customer base, they're scaling at pace and have ambitious plans for further expansion, both nationally and internationally.
At the heart of their success is a commitment to doing things differently: giving consumers more choice and sellers more freedom, supported by a proprietary platform that challenges the status quo of traditional marketplaces.
They are now looking for a Head of Seller Strategy & Growth to join their leadership team. This is a brand-new role, offering the opportunity to shape and deliver a long-term innovation strategy that aligns with their growth ambitions. It's about identifying emerging trends, harnessing technology, and creating new value for customers and sellers alike.
This is a high-impact opportunity for someone who wants to take real ownership of innovation in a digital-first environment, while working fully remotely within a forward-thinking, entrepreneurial culture.
Your new role
We're currently working with a rapidly growing online retail platform that's looking to appoint a Head of Strategy and Growth. This is a key leadership role aimed at evolving the company's seller engagement model from a traditional account management structure into a more data-led, proactive approach that supports growth and improves the overall seller experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping the end-to-end seller journey, making it more strategic and collaborative, while directly feeding seller insights into platform and operational improvements.
A core part of this role involves representing seller needs at the senior leadership level. It requires someone confident in developing formal feedback processes that ensure these insights are captured consistently and used to inform wider business decisions. You'll be expected to bring structure to seller performance management through the use of analytics, identifying top performers and highlighting areas that need attention before issues arise. Implementing systems and dashboards that proactively flag changes in performance will be crucial to timely interventions.
You'll also have responsibility for creating a seller segmentation strategy that supports more efficient management. This includes establishing a model that balances digital-first engagement with hands-on strategic oversight for key partners. Working closely with account managers and sales teams, you'll help guide pricing strategy, seller development and category performance, ensuring the right products and sellers are positioned for success. You'll play an active role in identifying product gaps and pricing opportunities that current sellers can address.
On the operational side, the role includes driving improvements through automation and digital workflows. This might involve refining how sellers are supported day-to-day, streamlining communication, or tackling underlying challenges with platform stability or onboarding processes. Ultimately, you're creating a smoother and more scalable seller experience.
To be successful, you'll need to work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Legal, Risk and Technology, ensuring seller feedback is embedded into ongoing platform developments. You'll also be feeding insights into broader acquisition strategies to ensure growth targets are met. This is a leadership position, so clear performance targets and team development will be a major.
What you'll need to succeed
Our client is seeking someone with a solid foundation in seller-focused environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing commercial relationships with sellers or suppliers, along with a clear track record of improving seller journeys through better processes and data-driven strategies.
We're looking for someone comfortable using analytics and automation to spot trends, anticipate challenges, and drive seller growth. Strong communication skills are essential, as this person will frequently collaborate across departments and influence senior stakeholders. A strategic approach is key here this isn't just about reactive support but setting up long-term frameworks that raise performance across the board.
Familiarity with modern technologies like AI and machine learning will also be helpful, especially where process improvement and scale are concerned. Practical knowledge of marketplace operations from payments and compliance through to logistics and systems integration is important to ensure nothing gets lost between seller and platform.
This role suits someone who thrives in a fast-moving digital business and knows how to turn insight into action while keeping the seller at the centre of every decision.
