Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint 1 full time Post Foundation Fellowship posts for a 24 month fixed term period commencing August 2025. The posts will be based in Gastroenterology.

The post foundation fellowship post is a unique and exciting opportunity and is aimed at prospective candidates who have completed the Foundation programme and/or those who are preparing to apply for specialist training programmes and we will aim to help and mentor successful applicants to progress in their chosen medical careers and improve their CVs.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the newly merged Trust comprising the previously existing Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Bringing together a combined workforce of over 12,000 staff, the new Trust will serve a core population of around 630,000 people as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.

Duties will be undertaken in conjunction with consultant colleagues.

Applicants are required to be fully registered with the General Medical Council with licence to practise.

The post foundation fellowship post is a unique and exciting opportunity which is a 2 year fixed term post aimed at prospective candidates who have completed the Foundation programme and/or those who are preparing to apply for specialist training programmes.

The aim is to provide a broad-based clinical training at a level higher than Foundation with special focus on any areas of interest that the appointee would wish to develop in their professional skills and profile to prepare themselves for and competitive to apply for specialty programmes.

The post foundation fellowship post is a unique and exciting opportunity which is a 1 year fixed term post aimed at prospective candidates who have completed the Foundation programme and/or those who are preparing to apply for specialist training programmes.
The aim is to provide a broad-based clinical training at a level higher than Foundation with special focus on any areas of interest that the appointee would wish to develop in their professional skills and profile to prepare themselves for and competitive to apply for specialty
programmes.
The appointee will work in clinical teams across the various clinical divisions and directorates in the trust. During each clinical post the appointee will be allocated an Educational Supervisor who along with the Medical Educational department will be providing support and
mentoring with regular one-to-one meetings. The appointees will also take part in the on-call rota including night shifts and weekends where applicable. On appointment, the post holder will be able to negotiate time in their job-plan to undertake additional activities such as quality
improvement projects, medical education and research or other activities that will allow them to develop theirs CVs and increase their chances of obtaining a national training number. The post holder will be expected to keep themselves up to date with current knowledge & practice,
to attend clinical meetings within the department & to participate in audit & “inservice” training of other healthcare professionals.
The post holder may be required to deputise for absent colleagues from time to time and to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances. The post holder will also be required to be available exceptionally for such irregular commitments
outside normal rostered duties as are essential for continuity of patient care.
