We have an exciting opportunity within our tendering team for a Senior Bid Manager. The purpose of this role is to undertake end-to-end tender management within a busy tendering team, working on public sector tenders in the health and social care sector. Supporting and deputising for the Tender Team Manager. You will coordinate the work of Bid Writers contributing to tenders you are responsible for and contribute towards the achievement of business goals through winning tenders.
To apply for the role, you should have at least 3 years’ experience in bid management in the social care market, be comfortable at building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and be proficient at managing multiple deadlines.
Key Accountabilities
The Senior Tender Managers is involved in every aspect of tender submissions, leading on development of compliant and compelling tenders. Key tasks include:
- Understanding Voyage’s vision, mission, values and services, and remaining up to date as the business and social care environment change and develop.
- Taking responsibility for analysing tender documents, creating launch documents, helping formulate commercial recommendations, and lead launch calls.
- Gathering information and translating this into compelling tender submissions, to maximise competitive positioning and tender wins.
- Writing original content required to deliver compliant, responsive, clear and persuasive submissions, including working with feedback from stakeholders to strengthen responses.
- Working with the Tender Team Manager to delegate work to Bid Writers, where appropriate, support them to plan and draft of high-quality method statements, and incorporate their contributions into drafts and final tender submissions.
- Completing tender documentation in an accurate and timely way, including on online portals, or checking this work if delegated to a colleague.
- Completing final portal checks to ensure fully compliant tenders are submitted.
- Contributing to Tender Team reporting and maintenance of comprehensive information library.
- Working with the Tender Team Manager to coach and support the development of team colleagues including Tender Managers and Bid Writers.
- Supporting the Tender Team Manager in meeting team targets and objectives.
- Liaising with, and supporting, internal departments to ensure team knowledge is up to date and accurate information is supplied in all responses.
- Work within agreed management and review processes to ensure complete, compliant, high-quality submissions are delivered and an audit trail is preserved.
Person Specification:
The individual undertaking this role should ideally possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Degree level academic qualification.
- At least three years’ experience in bid management in the social care market, preferably including Voyage Care’s specialisms.
- Excellent written skills.
- Knowledge of public procurement in relation to health and social care.
- High level of computer literacy including MS Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint.
- Strong project management, planning and time-management skills.
- Committed to achieving deadlines and deliverables.
- Passion for supporting people and strong customer focus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong organisational abilities.
- Ability to respond positively to constructive feedback, and to provide constructive feedback to others.
- Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure.
- Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks.
- Ability and commitment to developing the skills of junior colleagues, including overseeing delegated tasks.
- Methodical, with exceptional attention to detail.
