The Royal London Hospital Endoscopy Centre is looking for enthusiastic and forward-thinking band five staff nurses, to work in our busy and expanding endoscopy centre at the Royal London Hospital and the bronchoscopy centre at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, as well as supporting the Early Diagnosis satellite centre at Mile End.
We are looking for people with commitment to endoscopy, gastroenterology and respiratory medicine. You should have excellent communication skills and be able to work as part of a large team. You should also be flexible and approachable with a positive attitude, as this is the culture of the centre.
We operate a friendly department with four purpose-built endoscopy rooms and an additional x-ray room with anaesthetic ante-room for general anaethesia cases. The department has two 17-bedded male and female recovery areas, alongside step down facilities as well. Recovery has its own deputy co-ordinator and a large team of nurses who practice team nursing, who rotate through all areas of the department.

Admit patients for endoscopic procedures prepare and assist during endoscopic procedures; recover patients working in the MEEDC Endoscopy unit’s recovery area and providing support to the Junior Sisters and Charge Nurses to ensure the smooth running of the unit.
To discharge patients home post procedure, to offer health education to patients about diet and medication post procedure.
To work as part of a large team to ensure the welfare of patients and staff.
To work in conjunction with the Senior and Junior Sisters/Charge Nurses in the endoscopy Unit, to ensure the unit is staffed appropriately and that all staff are trained to meet the demands of this growing service.
To participate in training programmes within the MEEDC as well as the wider Trust.
To be part of a team of endoscopic experts within the Barts Health NHS Trust, helping to line managing the Nursing assistants; be actively involved in the recruitment and appraisal of all staff in the area and the development of further training for this group of staff.
