Are you passionate about welfare and safeguarding? Do you have experience leading teams in a fast-paced, people-focused environment? We are recruiting a Welfare Team Leader to join our client, a well-established independent organisation that provides accommodation services to clients across the UK. Their work spans central and local government as well as charitable sectors, and they continue to grow and evolve their service offering.

The Role:

Based at the Wethersfield site, the Welfare Team Leader will take ownership of all welfare, safeguarding, and administrative responsibilities for a large group of Service Users. The role is dynamic and requires someone who is proactive, organised, and capable of managing a team and responding to incidents as they arise.

You will work in line with detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), coordinating with internal colleagues and external stakeholders to ensure the welfare and safety of Service Users is consistently prioritised.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the welfare team, including direct employees and subcontractors

  • Create and maintain the team rota and ensure coverage across all required shifts

  • Support, guide, and oversee welfare team duties to ensure compliance with SOPs

  • Work from an assigned caseload, conducting room inspections and maintaining detailed records

  • Ensure systems and reporting tools are kept accurate and up to date

  • Respond to welfare concerns and incidents in a timely and effective manner

  • Liaise with external partners and support services as needed

  • Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all Service Users

About You:

We are looking for a strong leader with a background in welfare support, social care, or a similar safeguarding-focused role. You will be comfortable managing staff, handling sensitive situations, and maintaining administrative accuracy.

Essential skills & experience:

  • Experience in a welfare or safeguarding-related position

  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience

  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations

  • IT-literate with the ability to manage electronic records and reports

  • A full UK driving licence (for mileage reimbursement)

Benefits:
  • 33 days annual leave (25 days + 8 bank holidays)

  • Life cover (2x basic salary)

  • Westfield Health membership (cashback on health services and discounts for gyms and retailers)

  • Company pension scheme (4% employer and 4% employee contribution)

  • Equipment provided (laptop, phone, etc. as required)

  • Mileage expenses claimable from home

  • Employee referral scheme

  • 6-month probationary period

Please note that the successful applicant will be subject to enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
