The Platform Engineering team is on a mission to create the next generation technical platform for Lloyds Banking Group, a single platform consumed by every engineer and platform across the entire group, you'll be at the heart of one of the UK's biggest financial service technical transformations.

We're looking for an experienced and passionate Software Engineer (backend) to work on our flagship Internal Developer Platform within our Golden Paths Feature teams.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience as a software engineer working as part of a team to build performant and maintainable backend solutions. The candidate will also have a passion for technology and a commitment to delivering high-quality, scalable solutions.

What you'll do

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance our Internal Developer Platform

  • Deliver features, from prototype to production, ensuring they are well tested, secure, and meet our engineering standards.

  • Collaborate with colleagues from across the team business, including Senior Engineers and other Subject Matter Experts.

  • Make suggestions for the product roadmap to ensure we're delivering the right features for our customers.

Who are we looking for

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance our Internal Developer Platform

  • Deliver features, from prototype to production, ensuring they are well tested, secure, and meet our engineering standards.

  • Collaborate with colleagues from across the team business, including Senior Engineers and other Subject Matter Experts.

  • Make suggestions for the product roadmap to ensure we're delivering the right features for our customers.

What you'll need

  • Extensive experience of at least one high-level programming language, preferably Python

  • Extensive hands-on experience building solutions for the public cloud

  • Significant experience building solutions following Infrastructure as Code best practices employing Hashicorp Terraform

  • Experience with serverless compute and containerisation platforms

  • Quality is part of everything that you do, including robust test and release automation.

It would be great if you also had

  • Hands-on experience building solutions for Google Cloud, particularly using Big Data services

  • Passionate about building the best possible developer experience for our engineers

  • Experience working with and building CI/CD pipelines

  • Knowledge of building secure solutions

  • Good working knowledge of the industry concepts of Internal Developer Platform and Golden Paths or Paved Roads
