JOB DESCRIPTION
Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a non-verbal 10-year-old boy with ASD. I live with my family in Pontypridd. I have no sense of danger when it comes to safety. I need constant supervision with all activities and when out in public.
I’m an easy-going child but need time to process any instruction you give me. I have a habit of putting non-edible objects in my mouth but my attention can be redirected if you replace that object with a small toy.
PURPOSE OF JOB
To support me out in the community, encourage my independence and living skills.
HOURS OF WORK
3 hours per week during term-time
6 hours per week school holidays
Days and times flexible, can be discussed at interview
RATE OF PAY
£14.00 per hour and 0.40p a mile.
TASKS INVOLVED
Supporting me to access local activities, visiting parks or playgrounds or the Splash Pad
Visits to soft play centres during the quiet time
Encourage my independence, living and social skills
Teaching/assisting me to engage in my surroundings and to learn from them
Outings to KFC or McDonalds
Having fun with me! Making the most of our time together
Ensuring my safety at all times, providing constant supervision
Although I cannot swim, I still like going to see swimming pools
Using your car to take me places of my choice
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
Someone who is proactive and focused on supporting me achieve my goals and independence
A patient, kind and friendly person is important
You must be sensible, mature and reliable
Full UK driver’s license and car is essential
ABOUT THE JOB
This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
