Would you thrive in a fast-paced role requiring strong organisation and stakeholder collaboration?
Do you want to play a key role in ensuring safe, compliant, and high-performing electrical systems?
If so, we would love to hear from you!
We are seeking an experienced and driven Electrical Maintenance Manager to join our Electrical Maintenance Group (EMG). In this newly created role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of critical electrical systems across our unique and varied commercial estates.
Reporting to the Senior Electrical Maintenance Manager, you will support the delivery of high-quality maintenance operations, manage external suppliers, and contribute to the execution of engineering projects. You will also be responsible for ensuring full compliance with all relevant health, safety, regulatory, and statutory standards, while driving continuous improvement across maintenance practices.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive professional with strong technical expertise to make a meaningful impact on the long-term resilience and performance of our electrical infrastructure.
Due to the nature of the role, flexibility and adaptability are essential. You may be required to support the business outside of normal working hours, including evenings and weekends, as part of an on-call rota—for which an allowance will be paid. Similarly, as DVLA estates are spread across multiple sites: Morriston, Swansea Vale and Fforestfach, a full, valid UK driving licence is essential.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
- Monitoring all 3rd party suppliers, within electrical engineering, and evaluating their adherence to policies related to performance, compliance and safety, working with them to bring best in class solutions to DVLA in a timely, cost-efficient manner
- Providing effective management relating to less complex estate daily electrical matters affecting the efficient running of the Agency’s sites
- Being responsible for reporting of regular and timely information to the Senior Electrical Maintenance Manager
- Attending handover meetings, to review that works have been completed to the required standard in line with the specification and review any documentation supplied, e.g. Operation and Maintenance manuals
- Collaborating with key stakeholders to identify and manage potential issues and minimise any risk associated with the delivery of electrical works, to ensure that all areas of the estate are always available to the business
- Managing and delivering a routine program of maintenance audits across the Estate, assessing the outputs to identify performance trends and potential issues
Additional Information
This role will require you to work full time on site.
Applications will be accepted from full time/part time/job sharers. Full time roles at DVLA consist of 37 hours per week. Part time and/or flexible working may also be available subject to the needs of the business. If you have a flexible or part time working requirement, you should contact the vacancy holder in advance of making an application to avoid possible disappointment later in the process should your desired working arrangements not be compatible with the requirements of the role. To contact the vacancy holder, please use the job contact details listed under ‘Contact point for applicants’.
