Job Title: Administrative Assistant - Deed Poll Team
Location: Royal Courts of Justice, Strand, Central London
Start Date: Following completion of security checks
Pay Rate: £13.25 per hour (plus holiday pay & pension scheme)
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm)
Contract Type: Temporary (6 months)

We are currently recruiting a dedicated Administrative Assistant to join the Deed Poll Team within the King's Bench Division at the Royal Courts of Justice. This is a opportunity to support the operations of one of the most historic and respected courts in the country, working at the heart of the justice system in a professional and fast-paced environment.
The Deed Poll department processes and approves legal name change applications, managing records and communicating with applicants while ensuring data protection compliance.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a member of the Deed Poll Team, your core duties will include:

Processing and reviewing Deed Poll applications and associated documentation

Communicating with applicants, legal representatives, and judiciary regarding application progress
-
Managing and maintaining digital and paper records accurately and securely
-
Handling sensitive personal information in line with GDPR regulations
-
Supporting general administrative tasks to ensure smooth and timely case handling
-
Assisting in the mail room, including sorting, logging, and distributing incoming and outgoing correspondence in line with court protocols

Proven experience in administration and/or customer service (essential)

Experience working with incoming/outgoing mail or document handling (desirable)

Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

Excellent written and verbal communication, particularly via telephone and email

Competence in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)

Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining professionalism under pressure

Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision

A DBS check is required (we will assist you through this process)

The role will commence once all vetting procedures have been successfully completed
