We invest in developing talent through our strong focus on coaching and training.
We nurture teams: fostering a sense of belonging secured by strong purpose and healthy relationships.
As we are a talent first organisation, we are always looking to find people who align themselves to our mission and values. If you feel that could be you then we would love to hear from you.
About New Bridge School:
New Bridge School is a thriving and Outstanding-rated generic special needs school, part of the New Bridge Multi Academy Trust. We serve over 360 pupils aged 1119, with needs ranging from moderate to profound and multiple learning difficulties, including autism, sensory impairments, and complex physical disabilities. All of our pupils have EHCPs, and all of them are at the heart of everything we do.
We are excited about being able to expand our teaching roles and create new vacancies to meet the needs of our new pupils. Due to a colleague being promoted into another position in the school, the Trustees are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated practitioner to join our dynamic, growing and committed staff team in the following area:
The Role:
We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and dynamic Class Teacher to our Main Body Provision, who will also take on a dual curriculum leadership role for Maths and Science (TLR). This is a rare and exciting opportunity to help shape and influence two core subject areas that are fundamental to our pupils’ independence, wellbeing and engagement with the world around them.
About the Main Body:
Our Main Body provision is tailored for pupils who are working towards a destination of being independent or supported in their community. Our curriculum is fun, flexible and EHCP-informed, supporting learners to build the skills they need for life.
Class teachers deliver around 70% of the timetable, including; English; Maths; Science; Living Skills; RSHE. This model is enriched by subject specialist input in areas such as Art, PE, Music and Cooking. Class sizes are typically between 1013 pupils with 12 TAs, depending on need. The setting would suit a Primary-trained teacher or a Secondary practitioner looking to develop a broader SEN pedagogy.
TLR for Maths and Science:
As Maths Lead, you will:
- Drive the delivery of our teaching and learning model in Key Stage 3 within the Main Body, ensuring that Maths is purposeful, engaging and fully inclusive.
- Champion an approach to Maths that is rich in problem-solving, reasoning and real-world application, equipping pupils with the mathematical skills to support independent living, future learning and meaningful employment.
- Support staff in developing pupils’ fluency with number, confidence in tackling multi-step problems, and ability to explain their thinking using mathematical vocabulary.
- Use the White Rose Maths framework as a foundation while adapting it creatively to meet a wide range of learning profiles and cognitive levels.
- Lead curriculum innovation through STEM, exploring ways to integrate Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths into project-based, cross-curricular learning that reflects pupils' interests, everyday experiences, and EHCP outcomes.
- Promote opportunities for hands-on, practical Maths learning from measuring ingredients in cooking to budgeting for independent travel that connects directly to life beyond school.
- Collaborate with curriculum leads across the Autism Base (AB) and Interactive Base (IB) to ensure the delivery of both Maths and Science is accurate, accessible and matched to the individual learning models and needs of pupils across provisions.
- Nurture curiosity and foster a growth mindset around Maths, ensuring all pupils experience success and a sense of achievement.
As Science Lead, you will:
- Oversee the implementation of our dynamic, discovery-led Science curriculum in the Main Body, rooted in the White Rose Science scheme and adapted to meet the cognitive and communication needs of our learners.
- Support the design of engaging, practical lessons that encourage enquiry, exploration and collaboration, helping pupils develop communication, independence and a rational approach to problem-solving.
- Champion learning experiences that spark curiosity about the natural world, enhance wellbeing, and encourage pupils to ask questions, work together and reflect on their learning.
- Promote environmental awareness and responsibility, helping pupils connect Science to real-life issues and meaningful actions.
- Develop staff confidence in teaching Science and support colleagues with planning and delivery where needed, ensuring consistency and ambition across the curriculum.
What We’re Looking For:
- A teacher who is passionate about transforming lives through education.
- A colleague who can inspire others and lead with empathy and clarity.
- Someone excited by the opportunity to lead curriculum development in Maths and Science, including integrated STEM learning.
- A reflective practitioner committed to learning, growth and high standards.
- Have experience of teaching young people with Autism or Special Educational Needs within the primary or secondary sector or have a specific interest in developing their teaching skills in a special school setting.
- Have high expectations of young people, and a commitment to raising standards of attainment to ensure that they can achieve their full educational potential.
- Have experience of enhancement of pupil progress gains and raising attainment and achievement levels of all students.
- Be able to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation through imaginative and differentiated lessons which meet individual needs.
- Have experience of current assessment practice and the use of data and pupil progress tracking to ensure that all groups of learners achieve.
- Possess the emotional and physical resilience necessary when working with young people with a range of complex needs.
- Be able to build positive relationships with the class group, ensuring consistency and continuity on a daily basis.
- Have the ability to foster good relationships with other staff, pupils, parents and the wider community.
- Be hard working, organised and proactive in their professional development.
- Be a team player who can work effectively with all members of the New Bridge team.
