Job Purpose The Sister plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred dermatological care. This role requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and effective team coordination. Working in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines, the post holder will model the organisations values and behaviours, supporting and inspiring others to do the same. This multidimensional role combines clinical leadership, support, supervision, and operational management of the dermatology clinics. You will deputise for the Nurse Manager when required and ensure the consistent delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individual patient needs. Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership Champion continuous improvement in the delivery of high-quality, patient-focused care. Lead daily team coordination, delegating appropriately to junior staff. Plan and manage the nursing skill mix using the e-rostering system to meet patient needs. Act as the clinical expert on shift, providing specialist knowledge and advice to nurses and medical colleagues. Support staff in time management, prioritisation, and organisation of workload. Maintain professional boundaries and demonstrate sound clinical judgment within scope of practice. Uphold the NMC Code and related regulatory standards at all times. Promote a respectful, inclusive, and patient-centred philosophy of care. Lead by example, fostering motivation, accountability, and high morale within the team. Develop collaborative relationships with colleagues across departments and external partners. Manage conflict constructively to support a positive working environment. In the Nurse Managers absence, oversee staff records including sickness and annual leave. Support orientation and induction of new staff and rotating medical team members. Respond professionally to emergency situations and escalate appropriately. Provide expert advice to patients post-procedure via the advice line (e.g., wound care after surgery or laser treatments). Ensure compliance with company nursing policies and clinical procedures. Support clinical governance processes by assisting with investigations into complaints and incidents. Act as a point of contact for patients, families, and carers, ensuring timely responses to concerns. Contribute to a safe clinical environment by participating in risk management and audit activities. Take part in the performance review process, providing feedback to the Nurse Manager and documenting progress or concerns. Engage in personal professional development and create an annual development plan. Attend team meetings and contribute to clinical service development as requested. Be prepared to travel to clinic sites across Sussex and Surrey.
