Crynodeb
1. To lead and develop education and support relevant to the transfusion process to nursing, midwifery, Allied Health Professionals, medical staff and porters within the Great Western Hospital.2. To plan, implement and evaluate clinical audit/effectiveness projects, to ensure the safe and appropriate transfusion of blood and blood components within the Trust.3. To liaise with local blood transfusion laboratory managers and clinicians in order to implement, monitor and evaluate the effect of interventions aimed at improving the appropriate use of blood and bloodcomponents and in the reduction of losses and wastage.4. To monitor, contribute and advise in the development, dissemination and reviews of evidence based local transfusion guidelines and policies, ensuring they meet national requirements and legislation.5. To lead and develop a Trust wide Emergency Blood Management Plan in the event of national blood shortages.
