Summary
The Salaried GP will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a Primary Care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. The post holder will work in accordance with the latest GMC guidance, national QOF indicators and within the scope of the practices clinical policies, protocols and values. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including Practice Nurses, clinical pharmacists, ACPs and administrative staff to contribute to overall smooth running and development of the practice. Main Duties Provide high quality primary care to patients in accordance with GMC, CQC and NHS England standards. Conduct face to face, telephone, video and online consultations including management of acute, chronic and minor illnesses. Provide appropriate health education and disease prevention advice. Carry out chronic disease management, reviews and medication titration in line with QOF and local ICB pathways. Carry out home visits when necessary and clinically appropriate. Refer patients to secondary care or community services where appropriate Review and action pathology and radiology results, documents, discharge summaries and correspondence. Prescribe medication safely in accordance with current guidelines and be aware of prescribing budgets and cost effective choices. Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to other clinicians as required. Participate in clinical and MDT meetings, significant event reviews, audits and peer discussions. Take part in duty doctor / on call rota Maintain accurate, contemporaneous medical records in accordance with practice and GMC guidance. Contribute to improving clinical governance and quality improvement activities Support the training and development of medical students, GP Trainees or other learners attached to the practice. Participate in annual appraisal and revalidation requirements. Attend protected learning sessions and mandatory training. Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives, carers and colleagues. Provide clinical input to the development or review of practice protocols and patient pathways. Health & Safety The post holder must be aware of and follow all policies relating to health and safety as outlined by the practice and ensure they: Work in accordance with Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 Report accidents, incidents or potential hazards following practice policy. Ensure a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Comply with the practice's Fire Safety, Risk Assessment and Emergency Evacuation protocols. Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) The post holder must: Adhere to infection control procedures including effective hand hygiene and PPE use. Participate in annual IPC training Support audits and improvements in infection prevention procedures. Ensure equipment is cleaning and maintained according to guidance. Confidentiality & Information Governance Maintain confidentiality at all times regarding patient and practice related information. Comply with GDPR and Caldicott principles Access patient information only where there is a direct clinical need. Ensure that sensitive date is stored, transmitted and disposed of securely. Contribute to the achievement of QOF and local ICB targets Take an active role in learning from complaints, incidents and significant events Reflect on performance and seek feedback from colleagues and patients. Communication Maintain effective communication with patients, families, staff and external agencies. Recognise communication needs of patients with learning difficulties, sensory impairments or language barriers. Provide information in a clear and understandable format Contribute positively to a team-based culture of support, respect and professionalism. Contribution to the Implementation of Services Apply all practice policies and clinical protocols. Identify opportunities to improve service delivery Participate in service reviews, audits and innovation projects Support the practice in meeting contractual and regulatory requirements.
