We are seeking to appoint a strong Home School Link Worker (HSLW) to work within our pastoral team to provide focused family support to our most vulnerable families. We know that life is full of twists and turns and a Home-School Link Worker can be a much needed ‘critical friend’ during these times. As a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and Home-School Link Worker, you will support children and adults to get the most out of attending school, reduce barriers in attendance and achievement, understand the needs of children and families and signpost to other local support services available in times of need. Our most vulnerable children need champions who will try to understand their challenges and then work with their families with integrity to best support their needs.
If you firmly believe that every child can thrive academically and emotionally irrespective of their individual needs, background, race or gender, then this might be the job for you.
We are looking for someone who has:
A good knowledge and understanding of social, emotional & mental health needs and cognitive needs, that affect children’s development
Excellent listening skills
An ability to work independently, show initiative and stay calm under pressure
An ability to build strong, trusting relationships with our most vulnerable children and families
Bravery to have challenging conversations that puts children’s safety and welfare at the centre
Resilience and an ability to take regular responsibility for agreed actions
Skills which promote and support the inclusion of all pupils
Positive and personalised anxiety management strategies
Strong emotional resilience
An understanding or a desire to understand local safeguarding arrangement and effective practices
We will offer:
A competitive salary
A team of supportive staff
Continued CPD program
A working environment where school staff reported an 11% greater level of job satisfaction than the national benchmark.
An excellent staff assistance programme with access to wellbeing and health initiatives, including counselling, physiotherapy, menopause and weight management support
