An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time – 17.5 hours per week - permanent Social Work post in the Justice Throughcare team in South Lanarkshire.
The Justice Throughcare Team provides supervision; risk management; support and intervention for individuals on their release from custody. This is a challenging and rewarding role combining public protection with rehabilitation for individuals with often complex needs at a crucial stage in their desistance journey.
Duties of the post include forming productive relationships with service users prior to release and while in the community; completing Throughcare Assessment for Release on Licence (TARL) reports for the Parole Board and supervision of statutory licences including for individuals subject to MAPPA up to Level 2 and Category 3.
We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to provide a professional service to our service user groups. We would welcome applications from registered Social Workers and from Final Year Degree in Social Work Students looking to start their career as a Social Worker in the Justice Services. Final year students must be qualified within 2 months of submitting their application form.
You will have a Social Work degree with knowledge of Justice Services and a clear understanding of risk assessment and management. The ability to priorities your workload and sound assessment and writing and communication skills are also essential for this post. You will be expected to record and monitor work using electronic case recording systems. You will be committed to working with our service users in a pro-active and non-judgemental manner in the community to address their risks and needs and promote public safety.
South Lanarkshire Justice Services require all successful applicants to undertake Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) at a minimum of level 2. This is due to the requirement to access the Violent and Sex Offender Register (ViSOR ) information system.
