Here at Leicestershire County Council, we have exciting opportunities available to Newly Qualified Social Workers, as well as experienced Level 2 and Level 3 Social Workers, with a passion for working in collaboration with people facing a wide range of issues.

About the Role

We are now delighted to be able to offer vacancies within the following teams:

  • Mental Health Hospital Team (fixed term until 31/03/26, 37 hours per week)
  • Mental Health Hospital Team (2 permanent vacancies, 37 hours per week)
  • Assertive Inreach (fixed term until 31/03/26, 37 hours per week)

Our Teams

The Mental Health Hospital’s Team supports the residents of Leicestershire and Rutland. Working alongside health partners, to ensure that the patient receives a safe, person centred and coordinated discharge. You will be required to visit in-patients at Mental Health Hospital’s.

The Assertive Inreach Team is a new service funded by Better Care. Assertive Inreach assist hospital patients with mental health difficulties to maintain their finances during an in-patient stay, link to community resources and ensure that they are ready for discharge. You will be required to visit in-patients at the Bradgate Hospital and other wards linked with the hospital around the county.

Assertive Inreach work with individuals that are resident in City, County and Rutland.

We are looking for:

  • Newly Qualified Social Workers: £31,074 to £33,294
  • Level 2 Social Worker: £34,350 to £37,950
  • Level 3 Social Worker: £38,700 to £41,373 plus market supplement of £3,300 (£42,000 to £44,673)

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Be a qualified Social Worker and registered with Social Work England.
  • Have knowledge of social work methodologies, social care policies such as person-centred approaches and asset based social work, and relevant legislation including The Care Act, Mental Health Act, and Mental Capacity Act.
  • Have experience of effective assessment and risk management delivery, and multi-agency/multidisciplinary working and/or hospital discharge processes.
  • Have experience of partnership working with adults to identify and meet need with creative and pragmatic solutions.
  • Be a confident communicator who is skilled in diplomacy, persuasion, assertive and conflict management and able to build effective working relationships.
  • Be able to work proactively individually but also as a team member.
  • Have good prioritisation and time management skills and have a valid UK driving licence or access to a vehicle

We also expect you to share our commitment to our values and will ask you to evidence when you have demonstrated them as part of the interview process.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English is an essential requirement for this role.

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
