The post is for 4 days of a Band 8a Senior Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist (ACP). The therapist would join the Under-Fives team, working in Children’s Centres/Family Hubs across the boroughs of Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster. The service also has a base in Kensington & Chelsea CAMHS (closest tube Earls Court/ High Street Kensington)
The Under 5s service is a specialist CAMHS service for children under the age of five, their parents/carers and for professionals working with this age group. The post holder will be an experienced clinician with substantial experience of infant mental health. In addition to clinical responsibilities the post holder will provide leadership, service development, manage patient flow and productivity of the team, provide supervision and deputise for the service lead.
The service aims to provide an accessible, de-stigmatising, culturally sensitive, infant/young child mental health perspective through:
consultation to parents and professionals
specialist assessment
6 session brief work with Under 5s and their families, using evidence-based treatment
interagency partnership working
training and teaching
This role requires someone with considerable experience in infant mental health, who is interested in supporting ease of access to CAMHS services, the use of ROMS, delivering evidence-based practice and promoting a strong service user voice/feedback as a central part of service delivery.
The post holder will be a qualified Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist/ and a fully registered member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists or equivalent responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients.
Will be directly involved in delivering therapeutic interventions to parents and their children under 5 as part of a CAMHS Under 5s Service, especially focused on brief parent-child psychotherapy, consultation, teaching and training and joint working with multiagency colleagues.
To provide highly specialist supervision to Band 6 & 7 therapists and trainees as required
To support Under 5s lead in the management the overall the productivity of the Under 5s Service, referrals and waiting list.
To be responsible for the contribution to the evaluation, monitoring, development of the Under 5s service
To provide consultation, teaching, training for multi-disciplinary staff within specialist CAMHS and staff of related agencies
This post necessitates working directly and indirectly with vulnerable infants/ young children and parents who are experiencing mental/emotional difficulties.
The post also necessitates the post holder to travel regularly across Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster.
• To provide an efficient, effective, comprehensive and highly specialist Parent-Child psychotherapy assessment and treatment to service users, and support and signposting , to promote the quality of parent-child relationships
• To provide an efficient, effective, comprehensive and specialist intervention, assessment and treatment service for children Under 5 and their families with highly complex and persistent infant mental health problems and presentations beyond ordinary developmental expectations, their carers/parents and families within care pathways as relevant.
• To contribute to multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment of families with children Under 5 with complex infant mental health presentations, developmental and emotional difficulties.
• To offer consultation, teaching and training on infant mental health and attachment to multidisciplinary colleagues.
• To provide supervision and caseload management
• To actively engage in outcome monitoring, using ROMS
• Manage referrals, waiting list, monitor/ review service workflow and throughput
• To work in clinical practice, making use of supervision, within overall framework of CAMHS directorate's and the Trust's policies and procedures
• To be informed by evidence-based practice and participate in audit, policy and service development and research.
• To work autonomously within professional guidelines and within the overall framework of the service’s policies and procedures.
• To undertake and oversee audit and research activity.
