Job objectives and responsibilitiesResponsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the proper functioning and safety of the facilities and equipment. You will also be able to carry out minor repairs and improvements to the building fabric, such as painting, plastering, carpentry, etc.
Main dutiesInspect, maintain, and repair mechanical systemsRespond to requests and reports of faults or breakdowns from staff, clients, or contractors, and troubleshoot the issues in a timely and professional mannerInstall new equipment and appliances, and assist in the setup of other systemsConduct regular checks and tests of safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide detectors, emergency lighting, etc., and ensure compliance with health and safety standards and regulationsKeep accurate records of maintenance activities, inventory, and spare parts, and report any issues or recommendations to the supervisor or managerFollow a maintenance schedule and prioritise tasks according to urgency and importanceUse and maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment required for the role, and ensure they are in good working order and stored securelyWork collaboratively with other maintenance staff, contractors, and external specialists, and provide guidance and support when neededKeep up to date with the latest developments and best practices in the field of maintenance, and attend training courses as required
Person SpecificationNVQ Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Heating (501/1987/3)City and Guilds NVQ Level 2 in Mechanical Engineering Services (Plumbing)Level 3 Award in Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical InstallationsLevel 2 Certificate in Electrical Installations & 18th Edition.Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices, and ability to use them safely and effectivelyMinimum 3 years experience in similar locations and appliancesValid driver's license and clean driving recordKnowledge of commercial requirements of contractKnowledge of all requirements for administration of service excellentProvide guidance to trainee plumbing engineers to support their development and skilled plumbing engineers to support the decision making process.Flexibility and willingness to work overtime, on-call, or during weekends and holidays as needed
