Crynodeb
Full-time including participation in a full shift rota system working 1 in 8. Duties include day to day care of patients on the Surgical/Orthopaedics Wards, attendance at ward rounds, when possible attendance in Trauma/Elective Theatre and sitting in clinics and the responsibility for the Consultants' patients on the wards. A full shift system in trauma and orthopaedics is worked. The postholder will primarily work along the F2 doctors reviewing the patients on the trauma orthopaedic ward, the children's ward and other orthopaedic beds. The postholder will also arrange the admissions and initial management of trauma patients. The twelve Orthopaedic Consultants at St Richards Hospital hold Out-Patients and Fracture Clinics and admit trauma patients to St Richards Hospital and elective and rehabilitation patients. Consultants hold daily Fracture Clinics and there are Plaster Room facilities and technicians and full x-ray facilities and secretarial support at both hospitals. The CT and MRI Scanners are at St Richards Hospital The department is computerised using PACS radiology. The job carries an on-call commitment for the review and admission of orthopaedic and urology patients via A&E and direct GP referral, urology part is supported by Urology Registrar on site 8 am to 10 pm and offsite 10pm to 8am.
