Job Advert

Job Purpose: 

* To support the Registered Manager for allocated children’s residential home so that the physical, emotional and safety needs of
children and young people are protected, safeguarded and promoted.
* Achieve the desired outcomes for young people and children in the homes.
* Achieve and maintain an OFSTED rating of good or outstanding for the Children’s Residential Care homes.
* Ensure the day to day management and oversight of all areas of the homes’ operations utilising quality assurance framework.
* Ensure the home adheres to our in-house therapeutic model.
* Provide support and direction to the staff working in the residential care environment to ensure appropriate and effective
staffing at all times.
* To adhere to current legislation; Children’s Homes Regulations (England) 2015, Local Authority protocol and the Association’s
policies and procedures.
* To support the development of our organisational culture that puts our core values - Caring, Honesty, Respect and
Responsibility - at the centre of all we do.



Principal Responsibilities:  

* Working with the Registered Manager to ensure that the home(s) is managed in a way which:
* comply to the Children’s Homes Regulations (England) 2015
* maintains an Ofsted grading of good or outstanding
* promotes children’s welfare and safeguards their wellbeing at all times
* creates a positive physical and emotional environment where children and young people can discover who they are and who they
can become.
* Create, audit and maintain clear and accurate Care Plans and Risk Assessments for each individual child within your care and
any other associated documentation within the home.
* Working in conjunction with the Clinical team to ensure Clinical Safety Plans are maintained and adhered to at all times.
* To provide children with a high standard of personalised care; ensuring that children are included as fully as possible in
decisions affecting their care.
* To promote individual care within an environment which positively integrates protected characteristics including but not
limited to race, religion, sexual orientation and disability.
* Lead the staff team to create a culture of warmth, nurture and care within the home environment.
* Plan and organise meaningful activities, holidays and events inline with each individual child’s risk assessments.
* Working with the Registered Manager or Senior Management to supervise, develop and manage the staff allocated to the home.
* In conjunction with the Registered Manager or Senior Management, be responsible for the management of the homes’ budgets and
for the maintenance and monitoring of all financial records and reports in line with organisational policy.
* Ensure written records and reports are completed within a timely manner and to a high standard.
* Liaise with the Facilities Team to ensure the upkeep of the homes and grounds including the fabric of the buildings, fixtures
and fittings and the condition of the gardens are maintained to a high standard.
* During your 6 month probation, completion of all mandatory courses, including but not limited to;
* Safeguarding children
* De-escalation and behaviour management training (Team Teach)
* First Aid
* Reporting and Recording
* Ligature
* In-house Therapeutic Training
* Food Hygiene
* Fire Awareness
* GDPR
* All mandatory training is overseen, completed and recorded within statutory timeframes which includes your own professional
training and development.
* To ensure that senior management are kept up to date with any safeguarding or compliance related concerns and procedures within
your locality.
* Positively represent the services and the children who reside with us.
* Maintain registration with the Disclosure and Barring Service via the Update Service.



Legal Framework

To work within the parameters of the Children’s Home Regulations (England) 2015, the Children’s Act 1989/2004, Care Standards Act
2000, Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, Equality Act 2010 and associated guidance including Working Together to Safeguard Children
2023 and Every Child Matters.

Responsibilities for all staff, casual workers, and managers: 

Ambassador for YMCA Robin Hood Group 

To act as an advocate and ambassador of the group; promoting and exemplifying the group’s core values, mission, vision, and ethos
and to positively and proactively protect the group’s reputation.  

Other Duties  

To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by your Line Manager. To work in a flexible way to ensure
that workload is completed and to undertake any other jobs commensurate with the seniority of the post.  

Discretion to Act  

To exercise discretion in the performance of the duties of the post, to use best practice and to ensure the effective and
efficient use of resources.    

Relationships and Confidentiality  

To establish, maintain and enhance team-working with colleagues and staff of the group and to keep confidential all information
about individuals and the business of the group. Any breach of confidentiality will be treated seriously and may lead to
dismissal.

Line Management Responsibility:  

Responsible for all members of staff allocated to the home including but not limited to Team Leaders or Senior Residential
Therapeutic Care Workers and Residential Therapeutic Care Workers.




This post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check (paid for by YMCA) and registration with the DBS Update Service. We
reserve the right to withdraw this role before the closing date should we be able to appoint to the role.
