Job Title: Building Services Contracts Manager
Salary: Between £35,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience) + extensive university benefits
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Job Purpose:The Building Services Contracts Manager will be responsible for the effective procurement, management, and performance monitoring of building services contracts across the University's estate. This includes mechanical, electrical, and public health systems, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, university policies, and best practice standards. They want someone to come in and motivate and support the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Management :Lead the procurement, negotiation, and administration of building services contracts, ensuring value for money, legal compliance, and high service standards.
- Performance Monitoring: Develop and implement KPIs and SLAs for contractors. Conduct regular audits, site inspections, and performance reviews.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all services comply with statutory regulations, including health and safety, fire safety, water hygiene, gas safety, and electrical safety.
- Project Support: Collaborate with project teams on capital and refurbishment projects, providing technical input on building services design, commissioning, and handover.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the key liaison between colleagues, contractors, academic departments, and professional services to ensure service delivery aligns with user needs.
- Budget Management: Manage budgets related to service contracts, ensuring financial control, forecasting, and reporting.
Person Specification:Essential:
- Degree or equivalent in Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in managing M&E contracts in a large, complex estate.
- Strong knowledge of statutory compliance and industry standards.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with CAFM systems and contract management software.
Desirable:
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIBSE, IWFM, RICS).
- Experience in a higher education or public sector environment.
- Knowledge of sustainability frameworks and energy management systems.
