MISSION & MAIN ACTIVITIES:
Reporting to the ERO M40 Structures Routine Maintenance (SRM) Lead Operative, the SRM Labourer will be undertaking the routine maintenance and inspection of highway structures, including bridges, tunnels, and associated infrastructure under the guidance of an SRM Operative or SRM Lead Operative. This role will involve developing all required skills to undertake Structures routine maintenance to an excellent standard.
Key Responsibilities:
• Attendance at briefings, toolbox talks and training to enable all duties to be carried out in a safe and sustainable manner.
• Develop the required skills to undertake structures routine maintenance works under the guidance of the SRM Team Lead
• Carry out Structures Routine Maintenance works as directed by the SRM Lead Operative to a high standard and ensure all relevant paperwork is completed in a timely manner
• Carry out other SRM related duties as instructed by the SRM Lead Operative
• Ensure daily driver checks are undertaken on the vehicle prior to commencing network activity.
• Demonstrate and encourage a positive attitude towards health, safety, and the environment. Reporting to the SRM Lead Operative any hazards on site for potential escalation to the Day Works Manager. Adopting a proactive duty of care for own Health & Safety plus that of fellow workers.
• Understand the constraints, logistics and any site-specific requirements which will impact completion of the works.
• Address urgent defects as directed by the SRM Lead Operative and participate in night operations alongside an SRM Operative, which will require some flexibility in working hours.
• To carry out other such related duties as maybe required.
IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSES:
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations including those related to highway structures.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Previous experience of working on a high-speed road would be advantageous
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in using digital tools for data collection and reporting (e.g., tablets, inspection software).
• Self-motivation with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively.
