The role of the Lunchtime Educator is to provide support to the nursery team, at a key part of the children’s day. To provide support to the nursery team with the setting up of lunch, supervising children whilst eating and tidying up.

To be part of a team under the direction of the Lead Practitioner and to provide a warm, friendly, and stimulating atmosphere in which children can develop through play and interactions.

Responsibilities:

- To be part of the nursery team to ensure that the vision, philosophy, and objectives of Kamelia Kids are always fulfilled.

- To promote and uphold all the nursery policies and procedures with specific reference to the code of conduct, special educational needs and disabilities, equal opportunities, behaviour management and safeguarding policy.

- To use professional knowledge to provide high quality care & activities for children which recognises both individual and group requirements in a safe & stimulating environment indoors and outdoors.

- To actively encourage outdoor play supporting children’s learning development and independence.

- To be responsible for providing a high quality of care and teaching, setting up and tidying away toys and equipment daily – ensuring all toys and equipment are appropriate, clean, and safe always.

- To be responsible for observing, assessing, planning and the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and other appropriate guidance for young children.

- To promote the inclusion of all children considering their abilities, interests, language, and cultural background.

- To meet the emotional and social needs of children by implementing the behaviour management policy and role modelling exceptional standards in all aspects of their role and personal conduct.

- To meet the physical needs of children i.e., personal/intimate care, including changing nappies, administering medicine according to health care plans, assisting with toileting, encouraging good standards of personal hygiene and other associated welfare duties.

- To act as key person to a small group of children liaising with parents/carers and ensuring each child's needs are recognised and met. To monitor, assess, record & report on their development & progress.

- To develop positive and sensitive relationships with and work in partnership with parents, recognising that parents are their children's first educators, and encourage parental involvement within the nursery.

- To ensure that any information regarding the children, their families, or staff, which is learned as part of the job, is always kept confidential and is only shared on a ‘need to know’ basis.

- To work in partnership with other professionals i.e., health visitors, teachers, social services, speech therapists gathering information and carrying out plans for individual children as appropriate.

- To ensure that all legal and statutory welfare requirements are implemented, reporting any observations or personal insight appropriate to a child’s welfare or development.

- To be proactive and committed to the continuation of your own learning and professional development, to attend training courses and staff meetings as required.

- To be aware of the profile of the nursery and always uphold its standards, furthering good public and community relations within the nursery and in the wider community.

- To undertake such other reasonable tasks that may be required, working flexibly across the nursery.
